A website review.

Storybird is a social networking site in which you can join a community of artists and writers in order to create stories or read the ones written by the users. It has been qualified as "amazing", "brilliant", and "a gem", according to Wired, BBC and Oxford.
At first glance I came across with a design that include cute graphics, drawings and fonts, which gives a friendly atmosphsere to the website. Also, it is easy to use it, since it is simple and well detailed. Besides, navigating in a free website without dealing with tons of annoying publicity getting in the way is not something usual on the internet, but it is possible in Storybird.
The site has an interesting purpose, it allows you to create stories or poems by getting inspired with drawings and paintings. You have to sign up to do this, however, as we said, it is free. Although, you can read what other users have written with no need to sign up.
Compared to Voicethread, both of them are meant to share and communicate, but, in different ways. While Storybird is rather a site for writers, Voicethread is made for uploading videos. Also, the videos are more likely to share information or ideas, when Storybird has been created for creative purposes. Related to design, Voicethread seems to be more complicated and slower than Storybird, so maybe that could be something to be improved.
In conclusion, actually, there is not any weak spots as far as I have seen, and other highly positive aspect of this social network is the fact that it promotes creativity and culture and gives a chance to everyone to be an artist.

Film Review: A Clockwork Orange

The movie is based on Anthony Burguess's novel written in 1962, and taken to the big screen by the famous director Stanley Kubrick in 1971. This satirical and dramatic film ends up being one of the icons of the history of cinema.
It presents a group of four teenagers who like getting high and committing crimes. The leader, Alex DeLarge (Malcom McDowell) is a sociopath moved by violence and classical music, especially Beethoven's. One day, he is betrayed by his partners and gets arrested. In prison, he receives a tortureous treatment to make him change his behavior and stop with his antisocial habits. When he leaves prison, unable to defend himself, he faces places and people from his past who have not forgotten him.
What I like the most about this movie is the way it makes a really strong social critic through a violent and corrupted future which, at first sight, doesn't seem to have any message at all, inspired on real experiences of the author of the novel. Also, the perfectionist director Kubrick creates an easthetically great piece of art and tells the story in a fluid way.
It has been
a controversial film because of the violence shown and the cruelty of the plot. Therefore, before you watch it, you should know that you have to keep an open mind. Even so, it is placed in my favourite movies list and I definitely recommend it.

The Dog and His Reflection

The fable tells the story of a dog which was crossing a bridge carrying a piece of meat in his mouth, when he saw his own reflection in the river. He thought it was another dog with a bigger piece, so he wanted it, too. Then, he went up to the water and barked at the reflected dog, trying to take the meat away from it, but instead, he let his own slice of meat fell into the water. In the end, the dog didn't have either one slice or the other.

William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was an English poet, writer and actor. Born in Stratford Upon-Avon, on April 23rd, as it is said. Actually, his birth date is unknown, but it is a certain thing that he was baptized on April 26th. He had a big family, the third of eight brothers. He finished school at the age of thirteen, when he was very young, to start his studies at the grammar school. Then, he got married with Anne Hathaway and they had three kids together: a girl named Susan and two twins, a girl named Judith and a boy named Hamnet. This last one died when he was still a child.
After that, he left his family and moved to London to start his acting career. It is  believed that he was forced to leave after a hunting incident: he was hunting deers in a private property, and the owner was a very powerful person, so, with his life at risk, Shakespeare had no other option but to exile and leave his family behind. Nevertheless, that was the moment when he started his life as an actor and as a playwright. He became popular in the Lord Chamberlain's Men company, and he even performed in front of the queen. He started to be known as the Swan of Avon.
After many years, after gaining fame and money, he went back to his natal place. He bought a big house, and got focused on writing. At that time, he wrote many of his most famous plays, such as "Romeo and Juliet" and "Hamlet". He died there when he was 52 years old, on April 23rd, 1616.
